Warning: Delicious coffee!

We drink it for all sorts of reasons, but there’s no denying that coffee is a crucial part of life. Fatima Abdieva explores Tashkent’s best places for a cup.

Coffee might be the best way to make yourself feel at home when you’re travelling, so did the not-so-difficult work of visiting some of Tashkent’s coffee shops to see which baristas are making the best for your daily grind

Breadly Boulangerie

I love this place for its delicious house baked goods, which are impossible to pass up. The aroma of coffee combined with a stylish interior guarantee good vibes. I usually have a cappuccino or a latte, depending on my mood, along with one of their famous croissants, made using a special recipe from the 15th arrondissement of Paris. A Parisian breakfast without leaving Tashkent!

Breadly is on this list for its deliciously invigorating coffee, which has a pleasant aftertaste. Prices for hot drinks range from 23,000 to 58,000 sum. The atmosphere is also appropriate for meetings and there is a larger menu that features pasta, sandwiches, salads and light soups.

B&B

I always associate B&B with cosiness and comfort – a place I can usefully spend time with a cup of strong coffee and the work I love. I like its darker interior design, which helps me focus on work or studying, always with a cup of strong coffee of course. B&B stands for Beans&Brews, and its motto is, “Good beans make good brews,” which speaks to the quality of the coffee. Prices are very reasonable, ranging from 14,000 to 49,000 sum, depending on the size and style of coffee you order. B&B also offers all kinds of tasty desserts. I especially recommend their brownies, which are served with ice cream. If you are hungrier, the menu has sandwiches, soups, pasta, salads and hot dishes.

TIM'S Coffee & Roastery

At TIM's Coffee & Roastery, the coffee is made exclusively with freshly-roasted beans. You can get everything from a classic latte to a range of house specials. They also offer French press, Chemex and Siphon coffee. Coffees range from 15,000 to 40,000 sum.

Their standout offering is their TIM'S branded coffee, which comes as whole roasted beans or blends, and the friendly staff are on hand to help you to choose. Inside, there is a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere that urges you to linger. And, best of all, the service is extremely fast – handy for days when you have to rush to work or a meeting.

Bon!

There are branches of this local chain all over Tashkent – it’s almost impossible to pass by and not be lured in by their coffee and delicious sweets. The name hints at the French atmosphere, with soft, tan interiors and aromas of coffee in the air – whenever I go, I feel like I have entered a magical ‘mini France’. Bon serves a range of coffees, from classics to specialities, and they have a selection of flavoured syrups and lactose-free milks. Prices range from 15,000 to 34,000 sum.

I love the caramel lattes, which come with homemade macarons, which for my money are some of the best in town. I also highly recommend the signature chocolate bar combined with macarons and a coffee. This trio will 100% improve your mood!
