Today, there are many practices aimed at improving one’s state of mind, soul and body. These methods help us get our minds in order and reduce anxiety. They include meditation, breathwork, yoga and other types of gentle movement. We went in search of a few such places in Tashkent to relax body and mind.

Yoga Federation
The Yoga Federation of Uzbekistan provides a host of options, such as breathwork practice, meditation, various types of yoga classes and complex yoga therapy. The centre also offers full training for yoga instructors. The main difference between yoga and other classes is that, apart from regular physical exercise, yoga focuses on balancing the nervous system and emotions. This is done through an increased emphasis on breathing and concentration during the postures, which calms a restless brain.
Yoga Federation is conveniently located near Tashkent city centre. Open every day except Sundays. Class times depend on the type of practice and instructor. Advance booking required for the first class.

Artha Centre
Artha is an art space where everyone can find something for themselves. The centre is well-known for its diverse range of activities such as yoga, meditation, relaxation practices, sound therapy and vocal and dance therapies. You can also take part in various psychological practices. Artha positions itself as a place where people can improve their mood, treat mental illnesses and enhance their wellbeing. There is also a cafe on site that serves healthy food and vegan cuisine.

BeFlex Studio
As its name suggests, BeFlex is a studio focused on stretching exercises and flexibility. Activities on offer are designed not only to stretch the body but also to learn to love and accept it. Yoga classes are held daily in the mornings, with meditation at the end of each class as a relaxing bonus. A day that starts with yoga and meditation is always productive and effective. The philosophy of yoga focuses not only on balancing the soul, body and mind but also on resolving inner conflicts and working out one's mental health and trauma. Together, one gains both physical and mental health.
The studio also houses a shop with a variety of sportswear, as well as skin and hair care products. BeFlex is open from Monday to Saturday. Advance booking required.

School of Yoga and Meditation
The School of Yoga and Meditation is a full-service health club that offers a variety of different yoga classes, meditation instruction and training courses for teachers in this field. It also regularly organises yoga retreats around Uzbekistan, which offer a time dedicated to spiritual practice. The retreats offer a profound opportunity to get into a private space, away from day-to-day worries. After just a few days, participants come away mentally recharged and refreshed. The School of Yoga and Meditation conducts group retreats with a specific theme, usually focused on personal discovery and life paths.
